Welcome Transfers! 

Your Welcome Week experience will begin on August 20th! Below, you can find information about campus arrival time and activities planned to help familiarize you with campus! 

While you are encouraged to attend all Welcome Week events, any event with a ☘️ in the title is an event that is required of all new students! Events with a 💚 are designed for students to be accompanied by their guests.

NOTE: Plans are subject to change based on our evolving understanding of COVID-19 and its impact. These changes will be communicated via the ND Mobile App and our Welcome Week Social Media platforms @NDWelcome on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Please be sure to check back for updates!

Coffee, Conversations & Check-In

Welcome to the University of Notre Dame! As you arrive, grab some coffee and meet some of your fellow transfer students.

Check-In to pick up your new student ID and get your Transfer Nation SWAG! We hope you will experience the Notre Dame spirit of hospitality upon your arrival!

Location: Room 210 & 212A in Duncan Student Center


💚 Alumni Association First-Year Welcome Tent

You may still be years away from joining the ranks of Notre Dame alumni, but the Alumni Association is here to support you throughout your time under the Dome! Stop by the First-Year Welcome Tent outside the Eck Visitors Center to pick up your custom designed poster and allow us to introduce ourselves!

💚 Fall Mall

Your one stop, campus pop-up shop for all dorm essentials! Student Union Board will be hosting Fall Mall in the Stepan Center on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 p.m., where students and families can purchase rugs, futons, fridges, posters, and more. While you’re shopping, enjoy treats from local vendors, Nothing Bundt Cakes and Let’s Spoon!

💚 Campus Ministry Hot Dog Tent

Campus Ministry is delighted to treat all new students and their family members to lunch on South Quad, just outside of the Coleman-Morse Center. Hot dogs, chips, cookies and water will be provided.

💚 Capture Your Golden Moment!

Capture your first golden moment at Notre Dame with a family photo in front of the Golden Dome! Stop by our location on South Quad in front of the statue of Fr. Soin for a photo-op and share Day 1 at Notre Dame with your friends and family back home. While you're waiting, you can also grab some shaved ice from the Kona Ice food truck sponsored by the Notre Dame Parents Fund!

💚 Campus Tours

Get to know your campus! Notre Dame has many spaces on campus for dining, studying, socializing, and recreational activities. You can learn all about them on this tour led by the Welcome Week Steering Committee and the St. André Committee. This tour, starting on God Quad, will give you an opportunity to get oriented to campus, to meet other students, and to learn more about opportunities to get involved on campus.

☘️💚 Official Welcome

Join other new students and family members in this can't-miss welcome event at the Notre Dame Stadium. The Official University Welcome will kick off your career as a Notre Dame student! You will hear from Fr. John I. Jenkins C.S.C., University President, and other senior leaders of the University.

💚 Welcome Dinner

Who doesn't love free food! Hosted by Campus Dining outside the Notre Dame Stadium. Pick up your meal and enjoy the beautiful day by sitting out on the Quads and lawns.

Transfer Bonfire

Did someone say s'mores? Enjoy a fun night of s'mores at the Transfer Welcome Bonfire with your transfer community. This will be the closing event of the evening to wrap up your busy first day.

Welcome Week: Yoga Class

Start the new year off with a relaxing, invigorating RecSports Welcome Week Free Yoga class! Limited number of mats are available.  We encourage you to bring one if you have it.

Transfer Breakfast

A good breakfast is a start of a good day! Come enjoy the most important meal of the day as a transfer community. Members of Student Government will also be in attendance to share more about student life at Notre Dame. Some of the best coffee and food in the area will be featured.

☘️ Building Community the Notre Dame Way

You will learn how to be a responsible bystander at our greeNDot training. There will be a group discussion in which you will discuss possible situations that could be harmful to yourself and others, practice the bystander intervention strategies utilized at Notre Dame, and learn about resources that help our community be a safe and welcoming campus for all.

At Building Community the Notre Dame Way, you will learn more in depth about your role as a member of the Notre Dame community. This event serves as a culmination of all of the activities that you have participated in throughout your time at Welcome Weekend that will further enhance your experience at Notre Dame.

Lunch on own for Families & Students

This is a perfect time to reconnect with your families and spend time together during lunch around campus and South Bend.

This is a great time to connect with special interest offices, departments, and faculty. Learn about the services provided to help you learn, grow, and thrive.

💚 Navigate ND

Throughout the afternoon there are many events to choose from around campus to get to know your new home and prepare for the year. When traveling between these events, stop by one of our Navigate ND tables to get directions to various offices and buildings, ask advice about where to go next, and get support planning your day to day schedule for the fall!

💚 Resource Fair

What's better than putting all of a student's available resources together in one location during your first day on campus? The Student Services Resource Fair in the Duncan Student Center does just that. Make sure to stop by to check out tables featuring a wide variety of offices and departments from across campus.

Gather with your guests and fellow classmates as we come together in prayer and thanksgiving for your arrival to Notre Dame.

The time has come for your parents and families to say good bye and let you continue your new journey at Notre Dame. We hope you have enjoyed the welcome week activities with your parents and families. Now prepare for your next adventure and activities!

Transfer Trip to Hackers

Golf, Go Karts, Games and much more! You will take a trip to Hackers Golf & Games where you will enjoy a fun night of activities and games with the transfer community. Pizza and refreshments will be provided at Hackers. Please arrive on time as the buses will leave promptly at 6:45pm.

Location: Meet at the bus outside of the South side of the ND Stadium; near Duncan Student Center


☘️ Hall Programming

An evening of fun events, important hall information, and bonding with your new fellow residents awaits! Hall Welcome Teams provide programming on Saturday evening, led by Chairs and St. André Committee members who have spent months thinking up exciting ways to welcome you to your new residence hall community!

The Transfer Kick-Back

After grabbing your Transfer or Hall Shirt, head over to the Kick-Back to meet and bond as a transfer community while getting excited to go to DomerFest together later that evening.

Location: 1st Floor of the Duncan Student Center



One of the can't-miss events of Welcome Week, DomerFest provides a carnival atmosphere of fun, free games, free food, inflatables, and music for all incoming students. Make sure to wear your residence hall shirt to gain entrance and show your hall pride! Giveaways will happen at the end of the night so make sure you stick around.


We have expanded the outdoor footprint this year to allow for more spacing and larger activities. On the patio between Duncan Student Center and Debartolo Hall will be two large inflatables and four food trucks. The dance floor will now reside in front of the Gate D entrance to the Stadium.

Brunch & ND Traditions

Notre Dame is known for all of its many traditions and what a better way to learn them then with some returning transfer students. You will enjoy a fun filled morning of learning some of Notre Dame's richest traditions over brunch with some of our returning transfer students.

Taste of South Bend

Gather with fellow students to enjoy some South Bend food, lawn games, and music!

Free shuttles will be available during this time to Costco, Target, and more stores for you to get a chance to buy what you need for your new room. Membership to Costco is not needed on this day for students with a Notre Dame ID to purchase products.

Traditions for Transfers! Join your fellow transfer students to take a class photo & don't forget to wear your new Transfer t-shirt.

Come together with fellow transfer students as the Welcome Week Leaders prepare an exciting activity for you that will allow you to cherish this moment and make long-lasting memories with your new peers as you venture into this experience together.

First Visit to the Grotto

This special visit to the very heart of our campus gives you the chance to gather with your new classmates, roommates, and friends to reflect on your hopes and goals as you begin your time at Notre Dame. We hope that this “first visit” will simply be the first of many. You will participate in this annual event with your residence hall or small group of transfer students.
