Welcome Class of 2025! 

Your Welcome Week experience will begin on August 20th! Below, you can find information about campus arrival time and activities planned to help familiarize you with campus! 

While you are encouraged to attend all Welcome Week events, any event with a ☘️ in the title is an event that is required of all new students! Events with a 💚 are designed for students to be accompanied by their guests.

NOTE: Plans are subject to change based on our evolving understanding of COVID-19 and its impact. These changes will be communicated via the ND Mobile App and our Welcome Week Social Media platforms @NDWelcome on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Please be sure to check back for updates!


Welcome Week 2021 Schedule

💚 Fall Mall

Your one stop, campus pop-up shop for all dorm essentials! Student Union Board will be hosting Fall Mall in the Stepan Center on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 p.m., where students and families can purchase rugs, futons, fridges, posters, and more. While you’re shopping, enjoy treats from local vendors, Nothing Bundt Cakes and Let’s Spoon!

💚 Alumni Association First-Year Welcome Tent

You may be four years from joining the ranks of Notre Dame alumni, but the Alumni Association is here to support you throughout your time under the Dome! Stop by the First-Year Welcome Tent outside the Eck Visitors Center to pick up your free Class of 2025 sticker and custom designed poster, and allow us to introduce ourselves!

💚 Residence Hall Move-In By Appointment

Welcome to the University of Notre Dame! As you arrive, our Welcome Teams will greet you and your guests and introduce you to your new residence hall community. We hope you will experience the Notre Dame spirit of hospitality upon your arrival! Check out the Office of Residential Life website and Campus Access for Move-In for details regarding the move-in process for your assigned 90-minute appointment. 💚 Campus Ministry Hot Dog Tent

Campus Ministry is delighted to treat all new students and their family members to lunch on South Quad, just outside of the Coleman-Morse Center. Hot dogs, chips, cookies and water will be provided.

💚 Capture Your Golden Moment!

Capture your first golden moment at Notre Dame with a family photo in front of the Golden Dome! Stop by our location on South Quad in front of the statue of Fr. Soin for a photo-op and share Day 1 at Notre Dame with your friends and family back home. While you're waiting, you can also grab some shaved ice from the Kona Ice food truck sponsored by the Notre Dame Parents Fund!

💚 Campus Tours

Get to know your campus! Notre Dame has many spaces on campus for dining, studying, socializing, and recreational activities. You can learn all about them on this tour led by the Welcome Week Steering Committee and the St. André Committee. This tour, starting on God Quad, will give you an opportunity to get oriented to campus, to meet other students, and to learn more about opportunities to get involved on campus.

☘️💚 Official Welcome

Join your fellow classmates and family members in this can't-miss welcome event at the Notre Dame Stadium. The Official University Welcome will kick off your career as a Notre Dame student! You will hear from Fr. John I. Jenkins C.S.C., University President, and other senior leaders of the University.

💚 Welcome Dinner

Who doesn't love free food! Hosted by Campus Dining outside the Notre Dame Stadium. Pick up your meal and enjoy the beautiful day by sitting out on the Quads and lawns.

☘️ Rector and Hall-Staff Welcome

Ready for a proper welcome to your new residence hall community? The Welcome Home event will introduce you to your Rector, Hall Staff, and St. André Committee, with a night of fun events designed to help you get to know your fellow hallmates in a low-key environment.

All QuestBridge student finalists and matches and their families are invited to gather for breakfast and celebrate these first steps at Notre Dame! Spanish speakers will be present.

☘️ Moreau First Year Experience Course Kickoff

What are you searching for? What do you bring with you? What will you encounter? Questions like this will animate your first semester as a student at Notre Dame and take center stage in the Moreau FYE course. The course launches with an energetic, monumental celebration with all first-year students. This mandatory event for all first-year students introduces the significance of the course and ignites the next chapter of your academic journey.

☘️ First Lecture Series

During Welcome Week's "First Lectures," you will attend your pre-registered First Lecture and engage with some of Notre Dame's most dynamic and notable faculty members. Together, you and faculty will seek to answer the question, "How do I make the most of this time of scholarship and discovery?"

What if I'm Not Catholic?

This session is specifically designed for those from outside of the Catholic faith tradition. By the end of the presentation we hope that all gathered will feel welcome and aware of the resources necessary to help foster an active life of faith at the University of Notre Dame.

Glynn Family Honors Program Welcome and Orientation

Incoming Glynn Family Honors students and their parents are invited to a short welcome meeting with the program directors to discuss life as a Glynn scholar, including classes, social activities and funding opportunities, and to get all their Glynn questions answered.

💚 Resource Fair

What's better than putting all of a student's available resources together in one location during your first day on campus? The Student Services Resource Fair in the Duncan Student Center does just that. Make sure to stop by to check out tables featuring a wide variety of offices and departments from across campus.

Throughout the afternoon there are many events to choose from around campus to get to know your new home and prepare for the year. When traveling between these events, stop by one of our Navigate ND tables to get directions to various offices and buildings, ask advice about where to go next, and get support planning your day to day schedule for the fall!

Gather with your guests and fellow classmates as we come together in prayer and thanksgiving for your arrival to Notre Dame.

The time has come for your parents and families to say good bye and let you continue your new journey at Notre Dame. We hope you have enjoyed the welcome week activities with your parents and families. Now prepare for your next adventure and activities!

An evening of fun events, important hall information, and bonding with your new fellow residents awaits! Hall Welcome Teams provide programming on both Saturday and Sunday evening, led by Chairs and St. André Committee members who have spent months thinking up exciting ways to welcome you to your new residence hall community!

DomerFest

One of the can't-miss events of Welcome Week, DomerFest provides a carnival atmosphere of fun, free games, free food, inflatables, and music for all incoming students. Make sure to wear your residence hall shirt to gain entrance and show your hall pride! Giveaways will happen at the end of the night so make sure you stick around.

Activities

We have expanded the outdoor footprint this year to allow for more spacing and larger activities. On the patio between Duncan Student Center and Debartolo Hall will be two large inflatables and four food trucks. The dance floor will now reside in front of the Gate D entrance to the Stadium.

☘️ Moreau First Year Experience Course Sections: Welcome Session

Having attended the Moreau FYE Kickoff on Saturday, you can now gather together with fellow classmates for your first class meeting of your Notre Dame journey. This required session for all first-year students introduces you to your Moreau FYE section of ~19 students, your Moreau FYE Instructor, and how you can expect to engage with the course during your first semester as a student at Notre Dame.

Class Photo

Join the entire Class of 2025 for the first time to take a class photo. You will be assigned a time to enter the stadium based on your residence hall or transfer small group.

Shuttles

Free shuttles will be available during this time to Costco, Target, and more stores for you to get a chance to buy what you need for your new room. Membership to Costco is not needed on this day for students with a Notre Dame ID to purchase products.

Gather with fellow students to enjoy some South Bend food, lawn games, and music!

First Visit to the Grotto

This special visit to the very heart of our campus gives you the chance to gather with your new classmates, roommates, and friends to reflect on your hopes and goals as you begin your time at Notre Dame. We hope that this “first visit” will simply be the first of many. You will participate in this annual event with your residence hall or small group of transfer students.
