Why did you want to be part of Notre Dame's Orientation Steering Committee?
In my opinion, Welcome Weekend is the most important time of the year because it is the first chance we, as a Notre Dame community, get to welcome all of our newest members and their families to campus. When I first arrived, I had no idea what to expect, but after Welcome Weekend, this initially confusing and unfamiliar place was already starting to feel a bit like home. After serving on my residence hall’s Welcome Weekend team for the past two years, I wanted to join the Orientation Steering Committee to have a larger role in making sure our programming reaches every member of the class of 2021. Notre Dame is one of my favorite places on earth, and I am so excited to get the opportunity to show the newest members of the Notre Dame community what makes this place so special.
What is one of your favorite guilty pleasure songs or artists?
Most Disney songs, or high school musical, or Jonas Brothers. Honestly, I'm a fan of anything that requires singing along very loudly and that an eight-year-old girl might like also.
What is the one item that you brought with you to college that you were really grateful you decided to pack?
My mini steamer! I cannot tell you how many times this thing has come in handy. When I've forgotten to put away clothes for a while after washing them, when I haven't taken the time to fold those clothes when I do put them away, when I suddenly need nice clothes for a presentation or an interview, or when I've pulled out a dress for a formal that's been hanging in my closet for months, my steamer has always been there for me to get out wrinkles and is way easier to use than PE's ironing board down the hall. Also, people have wrinkled clothes a surprising amount, so it was a great way to make some friends early on. They aren't expensive, so I highly recommend picking one up!
